Beginning in 2006 Joëlle Olive Oils have been entered in olive oil tasting competitions at California county fairs. The Los Angeles County Competition includes hundreds of oils from around the world. The Yolo County Competition is more local, featuring California brands. Each year the beautiful oils from Joëlle have been recognized with multiple awards for quality. The LA County Competition requires a chemical lab analysis. To be designated Extra Virgin, the oleic acid or free acidity must be below .8%. Some use .5% for this designation. In its 2010 tests, Joëlle oils all fell well below .5%.
The first results for the 2010 season are in from the Yolo County Fair Competition which had nearly 50 contestants from all over California. Joëlle Olive Oil entered five olive oils and this is how they fared.
