JOËLLE OLIVE OIL

Orchard - Rows of Olive Trees

THE ORCHARD

The Joëlle olive orchard is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, 70 miles northeast of Sacramento, CA, in Bangor, a one-intersection town with a population of about 300. It is 15 miles south, southeast of Lake Oroville. The neighborhood abounds with other olive orchards and other producers of olive oil, some of the best in the world.

The soil is rich and red, the climate hot and dry, perfect for olive trees. A year-round stream passes through the property and there is a small pond where wild life enjoys congregating. The property is home to deer, wild cats, wild turkeys, a great blue heron, water fowl, rabbits, and way too many ground squirrels and gophers. Snakes, except for the occasional rattler, are welcome guests to keep down the rodent population.

The orchard consists of about 40 acres and 2,500 trees of the beautiful evergreen olive trees.  About half of the trees are 80-year-old Missions. There is a small stand of old Barounis and about 20 acres planted to Manzanillo trees that are now about 20 years old. We also have a very small nursery where we are fostering several Italian varieties.

Joëlle products are estate grown, meaning we only press and bottle fruit that is grown in our orchard.
